Oman tied with Namibia (Namibia win Super Over by 11 runs)
02
nd Innings Namibia
We are set! David Wiese and Gerhard Erasmus have walked out as the openers for Namibia. A surprise to all as Bilal Khan will bowl the super over for Oman instead of Mehran Khan who looked unplayable today.
… SUPER OVER …
CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? WE WILL HAVE A SUPER OVER! What a game we have just witnessed here. Oman were down and out at the interval but will now feel that they should have won it on the final delivery. Namibia will be relieved a touch as they have managed to scrape to level terms after a sluggish batting display. It will now be Namibia to bat first as we head into the Super Over. Will we see another close affair in the upcoming one-over shootout? Let's find out.

st Innings Oman
We are back with the chase. The two umpires are out in the middle followed by the players of Oman as they take their respective field positions. Nikolaas Davin and Michael Van Lingen walks out as the openers for Namibia. It will be Bilal Khan to open the attack with the ball for Oman.
… The Run Chase …
Bernard Scholtz is down for a chat. He says that the atmosphere in the Caribbean is lovely and they were excited about this first match. Adds that the pitch held up a bit and tried to bowl in good areas. Mentions that they had a perfect start and gives credit to Ruben Trumpelmann for that. Reckons that the wicket is sticking a bit but they need to stay nice and positive with the bat.
The bowling from Namibia was outstanding. Left-arm pacer Ruben Trumpelmann was unplayable for the Oman batter and he struck twice in the first over of the game and put the opponents on the backfoot immediately. He was supported well by other bowlers too. Bernard Scholtz and Gerhard Erasmus were good with spin as well. Ruben Trumpelmann was the pick of the bowlers by some distance as he picked up 4 wickets. David Wiese took 3 while Gerhard Erasmus took a couple as well. Bernard Scholtz took one too. The target is a below-par one even on this slow track but can Oman strike early and make a game out of it? we shall find out soon with the chase to follow.
After being put in to bat first, The Oman innings was off to the worst possible start. The side lost two wickets in the first two deliveries and were pinned back to the wall from the very begining. Zeeshan Maqsood then took the attack to the opponents and played a good knock of 22 for his side. The side lost it's top order cheaply and were in all sorts of trouble with the scorecard reflecting 37 for 4 after 6.3 overs. The 4th and 5th wicket partnerships were good for the side but they were right when they looked like shifting gears. Khalid Kail was the pick of the batters as he scored 34 while others got a start but failed to capitalize when it mattered.
A demolition job of the highest order from Namibia as a tremendous performance from their bowlers has restricted Oman to just 109 runs.

Done with the pre-match proceedings and it is now time to play! The two umpires are out in the middle and they are followed by the players of Namibia who take their places on the field. It will be the duo of Naseem Khushi and Kashyap Prajapati to open the innings for Oman. Ruben Trumpelmann has been handed the new ball and he is ready to speed in. Let's play…
We are almost ready for the start of the game but first, the two sets of players will lineup for their respective national anthems. It will be the national anthem of Oman first followed by the national anthem of Namibia.
PITCH REPORT – Matthew Hayden is pitchside. He says that there is a bit of wind coming in from the East coast and in general, the boundaries are small all across the ground. Morgan joins him and says that the pitch will get slower as the game goes on and the pacers will use the slower balls more and more.
The skipper of Oman, Aqib Ilyas says they will look to set a good target on board and put pressure on Namibia. Adds that playing Namibia before the tournament would surely help them as it gives a good idea of the opponents strength and weakness. Metions that all the planning has been done and it now time to execute their plans.
Namibia's captain, Gerhard Erasmus says that they will bowl first due to the rain around and will look to gather some information early on. Adds that they have prepared really well and will look to showcase that now. Adds that it is a good thing that they have played against Oman recently and ends by saying that you need to execute well to earn points.
Oman (Playing XI) – Kashyap Prajapati, Naseem Khushi (WK), Aqib Ilyas (C), Zeeshan Maqsood, Khalid Kail, Ayaan Khan, Mohammad Nadeem, Mehran Khan, Shakeel Ahmed, Kaleemullah, Bilal Khan.
Namibia (Playing XI) – Nikolaas Davin, Michael Van Lingen, Jan Frylinck, Gerhard Erasmus (C), Malan Kruger, JJ Smit, David Wiese, Zane Green (WK), Ruben Trumpelmann, Bernard Scholtz, Tangeni Lungameni.
TOSS – The coin lands in favor of Namibia and they have decided to BOWL first.
Oman on the other hand will be led by all-rounder Aqib Ilyas. Oman has been a side on the upward in recent years and they have gathered much-needed experience to perform well in key moments. Kashyap Prajapati and Naseem Khushi are an explosive duo right at the top for them with the compactness of Aqib Ilyas, Zeeshan Maqsood and Pratik Athavale in the middle. The bowling will be relying on the capable shoulders of Bilal Khan and Fayyaz Butt. The side has a perfect blend of youth and experience that could be useful on any day. Which side will kickstart their campaign with a victory to their name? We shall find out in a while. Stay tuned for toss and team updates in a while…
Gerhard Erasmus -led Namibia is the stronger of the two sides and possesses much more experience than their opponents for the day. They have arrived with an experienced side with compact batters, impactful all-rounders and a good-looking bowling attack. The batting will rely on skipper Gerhard Erasmus, Malan Kruger, Jean-Pierre Kotze and others while the role of finishing will be on a quality duo of David Wiese and Jan Frylinck. The pace bowling will be led by Ruben Trumpelmann while the side will rely on Bernard Scholtz to cause headaches to the opponent batters with his left-arm spin. The side looks solid on paper and they have recently defeated Oman in a 5-match series before the ICC T20 World Cup.

This will be the first maatch of Group B which also features Australia, England and Scotland which makes this clash a huge deal as this might be a huge morale-booster to the side that is able to get the win. Namibia are a well-drilled unit who have been able to roar back into major ICC events in recent times after some success in the earkly 2000s. Led by the dynamic Gerhard Erasmus who is the main man for them with both bat and ball, Namibia also features quite a few players who can play different roles given the requirements. They do have a few decent spinners and Bernard Scholtz will be one to look out for and the pace duo of Ruben Trumpelmann and Tangeni Lungameni can be destructive once in-form. The batting line-up is fairly experienced but needs to fire if they are to get a win or two under their belt. Oman on the other hand will be confident coming into this clash as they recently made the final of the ACC Premier Cup losing to the UAE but they did lose to Namibia in a five-match T20I series narrowly. Before the T20 World Cup, Oman announced Aqib Ilyas as their new skipper taking over from Zeeshan Maqsood and will Aqib will be expected to lead Oman into a new era. They do have a few experienced batters at the top in the form of Kashyap Prajapati and former skipper Zeeshan Maqsood but the middle order does seem slightly weak. They do have a more than decent pace battery to trouble the opposition but their slower bowlers will need to step up if they are to win. A clash that has a lot riding on it even if it's the opening fixture for both sides and neither will back down from a dogfight. Who are you backing for the win?
