The Indian Navy Sailing Vessel (INSV) Mhadei was flagged off from Mumbai on Thursday, 1 November 2012 for the Sagar Parikrama II, a solo circumnavigation of the globe.
Project “Sagar Parikrama” was conceived by Vice Adam (Retd) Manohar Awati as an appropriate tribute to India’s rich maritime history. He envisioned an Indian yatchsman sailing around the globe single handedly in an Indian built boat.
Lieutenant Commander Abhilash Tomy left today, 1st November 2012 for solo non-stop circumnavigation of the world covering around 45,000 km as part of the Indian Navy’s Mission “Sagar Parikrama II”.
